I concur complete with Bob Austin about Mercury I/O's not being the best
choice for your project. My experience with I/O's is that they all require
more maintenance than direct drives or outboards. If you are committed to an
I/O due to design factors I think most of your prospective buyers would feel
more comfortable with your engine choice if you were running Volvo diesels.

Sincerely,
Jim Garner

It is with great pleasure to write that after two years of intense study
into the market of power catamarans I am building two powercats at the
moment. The one will be a 36 ft sports cruiser and the other a 48 ft leisure
cruiser with two double cabins. I am sending you a rendering of the 36 ft
and will later send one of the 48ft. After a great research world wide I
came up with and European style for the 48 ft and would like to share this
with your readers and would like some feedback on these models.

The 36 ft will be powered by two 315 horse power yanmars with bravo
mercruiser stern drives. The 48ft will be powered by two 380 hp.

Both boats are being build out of composite material to decrease the weight
Launching dates will be mid October and end December.

I will forward photos at later stages of the building process

Thanks

Mark Nicholson
