 The other issue with a good motor sailor is that the boat has a long range
under power.

Unfortunately there are few pilothouse, motorsailors--either in the cats or
monohulls which truely have the long range under power.  I have a friend who
once had to power across almost the entire Indian Ocean.

I once powered all of the way from Panama to San Diego--no wind.  All so
often
we see the power cats with limited fuel and thus limited range.

Agreed, too often the fuel tank sizes are too small for really long range
even
at low fuel consumption rates
