For years I've had a simple garbage basket on my boat which had a compactor incorporated into the lid. It had a pivoting handle on the outside of the lid which you could pick up and manually push down the plunger inside the can. Reduced trash volume by about 50%. Regrettably I sold it with my boat. Will need to find a new one for the new boat.
