The passage is traditional sailing vessel route--down wind and current the
entire way.  It is quite possiable that the boat will get at least a knot
boost with wind wave and current.  If the boat were going the opposite
direction, the story might be entirely different.

Also I learned a long time ago that there was often not 100% sunshine on 
trade
wind routes.  I have sailed many days without seeing full bright sun.  I
wonder what the effeciency of the boat's solar panel are under cloudy skies.
