RE > What planning have you done regarding lighting strikes?

A good solution for lightening strikes is to carry a spare GPS, a handheld
VHF radio, a homing beacon, and a dozen spare AA batteries in a Faraday box.
I purchased one for $4 (actually a metal cartridge box) from our Army
surplus store, lined it with a soft felt, painted it orange and kept it
along side the ditch bag (also orange) to be taken to the lift raft if it
was ever needed.

The Faraday box will protect those items inside from the huge EM fields of a
lightning strike, and stay warm and dry in the mean time.

Its a lot better than a sextant in a storm.
