The shape and construction of a Max prop tends to catch and hold small
lines, especially monofilament, which can lodge between the pivoting blades
and the hub. Less of a problem when they are located behind a keel in a
sailboat than when they are out in the free water to the side like a wing
engine.

The Martec folding props can fail to open a blade and are worthless when
they fail requiring a trip over the side. The geared folders like the Gori
and similar ones make sure both blades open at the same time and amount. A
better mousetrap, IMO.
