John -

I don't believe that's been proven yet, has if? Dashew has not, to my
knowledge, put Wind Horse to the test in the same conditions experienced by the
Pardeys in their 24' Serafyn.

Also, I think that outrunning is fine in theory, but it is certainly not
absolute fact that you can outrun/outmaneuver dangerous storms in every case.
Some very fast large sailboats (as fast if not faster than Wind Horse) have not
been able to do it - witness the Queen's Birthday storm and the Fastnet
disaster.

The Dashews have my utmost respect; they have contributed a lot to the
sailing/cruising world. But most of what I've read has been about cruising in
moderate conditions. I have not seen Steve try to prove Wind Horse and his
chairs/harnesses in tropical storms or worse, and whereas I wouldn't wish it on
him, when and if he does so I'll look forward to hearing about it.

Regards,

John

>And he's got a boat that's better at handling severe weather than probably
any other passagemaker afloat.
