Patrick asked: Scott, how do you handle watches with two aboard?
Our goal was to only make one or two overnight hops. My thought was if I
can just get a little sleep, 2 or 3 hours in the evening, a one or even a
two night hop isn't a problem. I have severe sleep apnea anyway, so I'm
pretty skilled at getting it when and where I can. This is part of my
diaphragm paralysis issue. Marian was able to man the helm and let me sleep
from 1 to 3, which was a huge relief. Tonight may be harder. There is a
certain buffer in traveling with others as I know they are there to assist
if needed. That doesn't mean I need to borrow their crew, but it means I
know 3 radars are looking for targets. Several times last night the three
of us changed course to miss fishing boats and other cruising boats.
Paloma is also a husband and wife team. We hope this is the last overnight
we have to do. The weather is just soo good we had to continue.
