Dear List,

Dave from Swan Song has some great advice on what documentation  
should be readily available. He also has some sage wisdom about money.

Depending on where you are cruising, in addition to "greenbacks," you  
may wan to consider gold coins, especially for the ditch bag.

I for one like the real small ones. They have unlimited usage, are  
widely accepted, have a lower exchange commission (at least here)  
than dollars, and they have a memorizing effect that is just no  
possible anymore with a dollar note, no matter how big.
