I was asked why I didn't look at Nordhavn 46's when I settled for my 40.
Well, actually I did look at Nordhavn 46's. I even sea trialed Salvation
II, Jim and Suzy Sink's boat in Friday Harbor WA. What it came down to was
to get a 46 at the price I paid for the 40 it would have been 7 to 10 years
old. Also the 46 had more exterior wood (meaning any) than I wanted to
maintain. I also wanted the least boat I could get for the job, and a 40 is
42' overall. Finally my wife (the Admiral) liked the interior space on the
40 more than on the 46. Clearly the Nordhavn 46 MUST be on the top 5
passagemaker list because there are so many of them out there doing it.
It's a proud, beautiful, capable, robust boat and anyone would be well
served to own one.
