Hi Peter and everyone,
I'm only prolonging this thread because, due to the FUBAR rally later
this year, the topic is of interest I'm sure to some of the folks on
this list who will be staying there. Others can skip on by...
I don't think the characterization of Coral as a 'gringo resort' is
entirely accurate. Upscale, certainly. But not white American in
particular. It is a Mexican resort. Of course, many of the (gringo)
yachties make their way from the docks into the bar and restaurant
each day. But the line of folks we'd see on Sunday mornings waiting
for brunch was almost exclusively locals. Conversations around the
pool and in the gym I found were >50% in Spanish. Weddings are
common, again locals; charity events, weekly service club meetings,
all community based. So this is not a resort where the only local
faces you'll see belong to the staff. Far from it.
That said, we solicited feedback from many people who'd stayed at one
or the other marina and without exception people were very happy with
their choice, whichever site they opted for. Both are popular, for
good reasons.
