[PUP] Holding tank treatment & practices question

Today, 5 days after moving aboard, we slipped our lines and took Alanui to a
local dock to pump out the holding tank. I want to mention a product that
is absolutely amazing: CANNDURE, (493)291-1658, it's a holding tank
deodorizer. A year ago when we bought the boat if you flushed the head you
got a whiff of hell in the saloon. The vent for the holding tank is inside
the Portuguese bridge, and if the light in the galley is open, the fumes
make a b-line for it. It was enough to gag anyone. So, a buddy suggested
we try Canndure and within 2 treatments the smell was gone, I don't mean
less, I mean GONE. Well when we moved aboard we had another similar
experience. We had neglected the boat for a few months, so the odor when
flushing was ripe. Again, two treatments later, and it's all roses and
sunshine! So, if you have a head odor issue, try Canndure.

So today my wife says to me: I want to make sure we use the boat head every
day so I can figure out how much Canndure to bring with us. I tried to
explain that we would probably be pumping overboard just about every day,
but she was insistent on getting a baseline for total number of days to fill
the holding tank. A bottle of Canndure will do about 3 full treatments.
So, we will go through this exercise, but I'd like to ask those of you
cruising:

1. I assume at anchor you use your holding tank, out of respect and
hospitality to your anchoring neighbors?

2. Once at sea, I assume you pump out asap, then throw the valve so all
additional uses of the head discharge overboard?

3. Is there ever a time you modify your overboard habits that should be
considered? I don't mean the obvious times when your in a sensitive marine
area, but rather like when your fishing or some other activity?

Finally, I don't have any interest in the Canndure product or company, other
than being a very happy customer!
