Bob & List;

I joined USAA 25 years after I left the officer
corps. I asked about a retired CSM (command
sergeant major (E-9)) friend and they stated they
could not because he was never an officer.

However, I do understand that those rules
have been changed because of the requirements
of senior NCO's to now have bachelor degrees and
could become an officer if they so chose. However,
if you get your degree after being an enlisted man
for 10 years or more, and you retire at 20, you are
not considered in the officer corps at retirement.
At least that was the situation when I got out in
1968. How much has changed since then?
A tremendous amount.
I won't go into the politics of it now.
Just call USAA and ask.
Just don't prevaricate.

Regards,
Rick Redfern
