I seem to see two types of curisers--those who stick with other Americans, watch TV, and have minimal interaction with the locals.

We do just the opposite--stay away from the other Americans (but be friendsly--and invite them to join us on "excursions"--motorbilke rids, bus rides, walks etc. Dothing this--it leaves little time for Television.l Although it is nice to keep up on technology--one is going cruising (i hiope) for new adventures).

We had Televisions, and used them mostly for local news and weather reports--at times this was valuable--"Son's of Norway having a pot lock at the hall"--a concert--and to further learn the language. Remember if you go to other parts of the world they many not have the same protocol we have for TV.

A few DVD's would also provide entertainiment--when necessary--and not require the satellite system.
