In answer to a recent question:

Ice Dancer II, a 57 Nordhavn, has TRAC stabilizers that were
manufactured by American Bow Thruster. The system is digitally
controlled with hydraulically powered, active fins. It has a good
reputation for reliability, and so far has performed without failure.
We engage the system whenever the boat is in operation. At rest,
pins are inserted to prevent currents and gravity from moving the fin
blades. At very low speeds or in reverse gear, fins are centered to
prevent damage from surge.

Ice Dancer (I), our previous 50 Nordhavn, had Koopnautic stabilizers.
This system was constructed for larger boats, but was installed on
the 50 for high reliability. It seemed to have a more sensitive
control system, but not materially different in performance from the
TRAC.
