Steep discounts for last minute shipping is, I
believe, fairly common. The problem is, if the ship is
full or close to full or gets a last minute full-fare
customer, you could be out of luck. And the next ship
may be many months away. I'd imagine this works well
for someone who is okay with heading north on their
own bottom, but falls into a good deal. It may not
work well for someone who needs to ship their boat but
just wants to save money - that person may end up
missing the boat.
