Well, nice thing is it's my anchor and I get to drill it if I think it needs
to be drilled.  If I blow down on SwanSong during that wind change I'll be
right there to write you a check for repairs and buy you a cold one.
(Unlike the sailboat FLASH that's hit me twice in my marina).  

I appreciate the feedback, one thing to consider is so few people contribute
to forums like this because it seems if your willing to publicize your
thoughts and ideas there is always someone to debate them and insinuate your
stupid.  Dave has immense credibility because of his experience (which I
lack).  Also Dave does a good job of sharing his perspective without making
the other party feel attacked.  Email is a challenging forum for this kind
of exchange because it's so easy to misread a comment and overreact to it.
Perhaps if I'd posted a picture of the anchor along with the posting it
would have been more valuable?  Maybe I'll find  a place to put a picture.
Anyway, I do appreciate the feedback, I also believe drilling the anchor was
the right thing to do, but I'm sure I'll hear for a week what a dumb ass I
am  :)

Oh, PS, if that anchor bites well enough in the bottom to bend the shank
where I drilled it, I'm going to buy stock in the company because it's one
hell of an anchor!  Oh wait, I think they went out of business?  Uh oh!
