<scott - " Drilled primary Anchor to accept retaining pin for bow pulpit">
Not to sure that I'd drill any hole in my anchor. I have seen CQR, Delta's
and just about all other types with bent shanks due to side loading in bad
weather. The manufacturer of some provides holes for pinning purposes...no
problem using them.
Drilling a 1" hole....hmmmmmmmm. OTOH perhaps you drilled it in an area that
doesn't ever get loaded. We always use a rope on ours even tho we have a pin
that fits thru the factory hole in our Delta.
Just a thought to keep you from sleeping too soundly in that 35 kts wind
shift in the anchorage ;-)
In my former life on those wind powered boats we always removed the anchor
before heading offshore. Keeping the front of the boat clean for big waves
to pass thru, over and around was always in my best interest ;-)
As always YMMV....
