Fascinating article. Highlights for me were:

"will now start taking on board Aster missiles, which are capable of 
knocking down a cricket ball-sized object travelling at three times the 
speed of sound."

I didn't know cricket balls were a threat.

"A warship that can defend the entire city of London from missile and 
aircraft attack"

In an age of the more likely suicide bomber.

"She's a beautiful ship to drive, like a souped-up Bentley with very smooth 
handling,"

Does this mean it has to go into the shop every two weeks?

"The ship left American visitors to the yard on the Clyde "shaken and 
shocked", according to BAE Systems, its builders."

Are we afraid of attack by Great Britain? Are we having "destroyer-envy?"

"Crew comforts: First warship to include email facilities and iPod charging 
points."
