Scott, having spent three seasons on the Pacific Coast of Mexico and a long
one in the Caribbean we came to appreciate that your dinghy is the most
important piece of gear aboard, and wheels are a definite necessity unless you are
a Charles Atlas type. Safer landings, safer launchings and being able to
bring the dinghy up far beyond the surf line, these are three important
considerations plus the fact that most Mexico cruisers anchor away from Marinas and
go shore on sandy beaches with SURF. Dinghy landing in the surf is an
art...the sport is getting ashore and watching your compatriots land. Rating systems
are encouraged ala swim meets and gymnastics...waders in the type water help
is appreciated by novices and pros alike. We all have to start somewhere and
you are heading for a great adventure and experience. We never felt the need
to lock the dinghy on remote beaches, always lifted AND secured it at night
after losing one of our pair off Isla Isabella, and very much appreciate the
dinghy valet at the main landing beach in Z-Town.
