GL: Anchors

Is the chain rule the bigger the better ?  I had some plastic  coated heavy 
chain that I was using and I seemed to drag a lot . I went to a  bigger 
anchor and smaller chain , now I can hold in hurricane ! 
 
 Like the other guy I don't know which made the difference . I have  
wondered if the heavy chain kept the anchor from properly setting
