My observations so far...our boat (aprox 28,000lbs) came with a 45lb CQR and 
3/8" chain. On two occasions, we dragged a fair bit. One of them was in a 
spot notorious for bad holding. We put out at least a 6:1 scope.
I then bought a 45lb Manson Supreme and 200' of 5/16 HT chain. Went back to 
the same two spots and in both cases did not drag at all under similar 
conditions. If anything, I put out less scope.
