Glenn,
I don't recall anyone saying anything about hauling the holding tank
waste off in the middle of the night -- with the implication of
illegal dumping by the marinas???
However, most marinas are not located near towns or cities with a
city sewer connection. So their pump out station has to pump the
black water waste into a large tank which in turn is pumped into a
tanker truck and hauled to a waste treatment facility similar to your
city sewer treatment plant. Now boaters think that the marina owner
should pay his dock hands to pump out the holding tanks of all boats,
not just their slip holders or transients renting a slip for a night
or two OR purchasing fuel for a paltry $5.00 or for FREE. We pay a
local sanitation company to come dockside to pump out our boat right
in the slip with a portable gas powered rig and haul it away. The
cost is $25.00 every two weeks and we think that it is a bargain
since it would cost us more than that to start the engines and travel
a 1/2 mile to the nearest marina with pump out facilities and pay
them $5.00.
