GL: Running Delaware Bay

Everything I've read makes Delaware Bay out to be this horrible waterway that
must be endured in a single long run. Of course for slow boats this is a 10
hour run. I think this is totally off base. Split it up into two easy runs
with favorable current the whole way. There were sections of the Chesapeake
that I considered at least as bad and that's everybodies poster child for
great cruising grounds. (yes, the Delaware is a large body of water and in bad
weather could be a problem).

We stopped at the Cohnsey River about half way down enjoying the current the
whole way. Then by timing it we rode the current up the Cohansey into Hancock
Harbor (Cheap at $1/ft and gas was $0.65 less than on the C&D canal. Call
ahead on the weekend as they aren't always in during the week.). It is an easy
deep water entrance and river. You could anchor but I would go up the river
near the marinas as the power boats don't slow down for you near the entrance
but do across from the marina.

Tomorrow we will leave first thing in the moring and should carry a favorable
current all the way into Cape May.

Just some thoughts for anyone headed north.
