Just a quick update on the North Channel for anyone who might have interpreted
Ed K's description as negative. If he intends on returning for a fifth time
then I'm sure its safe to say he really enjoys it. We should take advantage
of the current lower fuel prices (diesel $.90 a liter and gasoline under $1.00
a liter) which is under $4.00 per US gallon. These prices are slowly moving
higher but should still be much better than last summer. The marinas in
Killarney, Ontario are almost back to capacity after a devastating storm a few
years ago. The communities of Little Current and Gore Bay on Manitoulin
Island have been upgraded with new docks and marina facilities that will
please all boaters. Water levels are up over chart datum that will assist in
your navigation. Enjoy some great fish dinners along the way at the many good
restaurants or you can catch your own. Since completing out Loop in 2007, we
spend most of each summer in the North Channel.
