GL: Dock lines

Tommy and list,

Yes, particularly early in the boating season when the dock hands are  
just learning the "ropes" if you will pardon the pun.  When doing so,  
always tell the dock hands what you want them to do with the line -  
and don't expect them to do it the way you would.  Always go back and  
re-cleat or re-tie your lines after you are docked.

And get into the practice of tying your electric lines to the power  
stanchion to prevent them from falling out.  Also when using water  
from a transient dock, always let the water run for several minutes  
before hooking up to your boat or filling your tanks - unless the  
marina has city treated water, there will be algae and all sorts of  
nasty stuff in the pipes.
