"Boat is 55' LWL, 60' LOA, weight at 40,000
lbs Main area of cruising will be the Loop."

My boat is 41' 10" LWL and weighs in at 40,000. I use a mix of 5/*' twisted
and braided lines. The braided are for the bow and stern lines in my home
slip which doesn't have a whole lot of room for the stretch of twisted lines
in a heavy blow.

If you cannot splice braided line or don't have access to somebody who can,
don't buy it and then proceed to seriously reduce its strength by tying
knots in it. Anybody can splice twisted line.
