GL: Waterford trailer storage, Erie Canal

After the Hudson I'm planning on doing the Erie Canal - does
anyone have any suggestions on storage location for the
pickup & trailer ? I've contacted the Waterford Visitors
center and they say it is OK, but looking at the facility on
Google Earth it looks like they have little space available.

You are right, there is not much parking space at the Visitor's Center in
Waterford. But, a short walk away is a large gated canal maintenance
facillity, just above lock 3 as I recall. There is a boat launch ramp right
next to the Visitor's Center at the junction of the Mohawk and Hudson
Rivers.
 
I'd be surprised if they would not allow parking in the maintenance yard
for the time you are on the water. If you can't get an answer from the main
telephone number for NYS Canals, try asking the Visitor's Center staff (513
233 9123) how to hold of the super of the maintenance facility.
