GL: Fender Cover covers

Don't make the same mistake we did. Cindy made fender covers out of heavy
terrycloth. They work great...except in the Erie Canal. They actually seemed
to attract the dirt and slime and wipe it off the walls of the lock and onto
the hull of the boat. It took a lot of scrubbing to clean the hull and it was
almost impossible to get the fender covers clean.

The Erie canal is one of the few places I disagreed with Skipper Bob. In his
books he recommends that you hold tight to the wall. We found that we could
easily hold the boat just off the wall and keep the fenders and hull cleaner.
Don't get me wrong. We still rig the fenders...we just try not to use them.
