"
The article states that Florida requires ALL BOATS to be registered in some
state.

How do they handle US DOCUMENTATED boat ? I am from Washington State and
they do have boat registration BUT mine IS NOT Registered as it is
DOCUMENTED."

This was my experience in Spring of 2007, things may have changed since then!
I contacted the FL Wildlife and Fisheries who handle this according to them
yes any boat in Florida(documented or not) which is not registered in a state
must be registered in FL. This was in 2007 when we spent a couple of months
in FL and were going to Venice so I did register when we stopped in Panama
City, they prorate it based on one's birthday so I only had to pay a couple
of months worth, about $12.00 if I remember right. The forms and labor
probably cost FL $25.00 or more.
If your boat is state registered somewhere you can spend 90 days in FL
before needing to register.
I found not many people in the Wildlife and fisheries or dept of taxation
were very familiar with the regulations, they assume all states register boats
documented or not, and but apparently this guy is.
I usually go to the Fl panhandle every summer for a month or so and do not
bother with registering as things are more relaxed (regulation wise) there.
There is also something called a sojourners permit I am not familiar with
the workings of it you may want to look into it also.

I also heard last year the Venice guy had retired, maybe he was heavily
invested in AIG and had to go back to work!
