If you want a place a little quieter and more sheltered than Liberty
Park, try Great Kills on Staten Island. The bay on the east side of
the island is protected from waves and wakes and offers good
anchorage. One side abounds in marine services, the other side is
part of Gateway National Park. A city bus within three blocks of the
anchorage takes you to the Staten Island Ferry. You can board one of
the historic ferries for a not to be forgotten ocean voyage to
Manhattan.
