In response to: I have no experience with Hinkley but as
an ex sailor...know that Hinkley's are the creme de la creme of sailboats
built in Maine. As such...the name 'Hinkley' is synomous with SNOBBERY. IF
you are following the 'train' on the Trawler List re boat show
snobs...Hinkley
rates #1 and would be expected to be high priced. It would be below them to
have a 'lesser boat' in their yard...except for the economy...

Marge,

Just can't help myself when it comes to responding to your letter, even as
an owner of an old trawler. You state "I have no experience with Hinkley",
but yet you bad-mouth them to others on this list?? Yes, you are entitled to
your opinion, and I respect that, but making a blanket statement that "Hinkley
is synonymous with SNOBBERY", is just plain ignorant. I have no doubt that
some boat owners of ANY brand think that their boats holding tanks don't
stink, there will always be that type of individual. And there are company's out
there that have retail locations that offer better service than other ones.
But perhaps I am taking this too far?? You may be talking about a company
called Hinkley that builds sailboats, I am talking about Hin"c"kley who build
some damn fine boats and do outstanding work with professional trained
staff.......at least in Savannah where I have personal experience.

And I'm not sure what you are reading on the T&T list when it comes to the
"boat show snobs", nowhere have I read anything negative about Hinckley.....as
you suggest??? Perhaps I am wrong, my wife will tell you that I often am!
;-)

Not writing this to get you upset, just wanted you to know how I felt,
