GL: State Sales Tax on Boats

FLA residency is in our plan. Wil retire Jan 2012. We are now looking to
increase our knowledge of the west coast of FLA to get a better
understanding of the real estate markets there. Would like to be Punta
Gorda or more south than that, or Ft Myers area or more south than that.
Need to find a place with a good school district. If anyone has any
personal knowledge of these factors, please contact me.

Come be a Florida resident! No state income tax and if you've owned a
boat 
in another state for six months there is no sales tax collected even if
you 
never paid sales tax on the boat. We bought our new Mainship 400 in
Rhode 
Island which has zero sales tax on boats kept for 6 months in RI. We
moved 
to Florida became residents and paid no sales tax.
