When I bought First Forty some years ago, she was delivered from the city
marina in Charleston SC to Moss Marine where she was hauled and surveyed. They
did some work on her there but can't recall what. I am away from home right
now so I don't have any records with me but Moss is a full boat yard and we
were very pleased with them. They are on John's Is on the river (ICW) whose
name I don't recall, just south of the 'cut' going south from Charleston yet
still conveinent to Charleston.
I have no experience with Hinkley but as
an ex sailor...know that Hinkley's are the creme de la creme of sailboats
built in Maine. As such...the name 'Hinkley' is synomous with SNOBBERY. IF
you are following the 'train' on the Trawler List re boat show snobs...Hinkley
rates #1 and would be expected to be high priced. It would be below them to
have a 'lesser boat' in their yard...except for the economy...
