We anchored in a little cove in the Bay of Quinte called Sandy Cove 
in Active Captain.  Our exact spot was N44 08.573 W 77 18.488.  Good 
holding and good protection except from N through E.  Can be busy on 
summer weekends.  We were there on a Sunday night and were fine.

If you don't want to go quite that far (about 45 miles), another good 
spot is Glen Island at N44 03.360 W 77 03.300.  Anchor behind the 
island for best protection.  Again, busy area on weekends, as is the 
entire Bay of Quinte.
