I like the idea earlier of you arriving at a town on the Trent, renting a car
for the 2 hour drive to pick-up family. However, Toronto traffic is horrendous
so plan your day accordingly. It is a 2 - 2.5 hour trip from the named cities
(Trenton or Peterborough) unless you hit traffic at the eastern edge of our
city. Add up to an hour in worst case scenario.
However, sounds like you're then going to get in the boat and travel for a few
days. You have to repeat the process a few days later (ie drive them to the
airport again).
In these circumstances (what travel industry calsl 'open jaw' - arrive at one
place but leave from another) I'd recommend a bus from Toronto International
Airport.
Check out www.coachcanada which indicates service service from Toronto
International Airport to the following towns
Belleville
Bowmanville
Cobourg
Colborne
Grafton
Kingston
Marysville
Napanee
Odessa
Port Hope
Trenton
Of course, Trenton is on the Trent River, but it's further east than you
mention in your posting. If it works for you, CoachCanada has 3 trips
eastbound to Trenton from Toronto airport
2:30 pm - 5:15 pm arrival
7:00 pm - 9:45 pm arrival
9:30 pm - 12:15 am arrival
Please note message on the coachcanada website - IF YOU ARE DEPARTING FROM ONE
OF THE LOCATIONS BELOW YOU WILL NEED TO CALL
COACH CANADA AT 1-800-461-7661 TO MAKE A PICKUP RESERVATION.
- Bowmanville
- Colborne
- Grafton
- Marysville
- Odessa
- Port Hope
Lastly, our other bus line is Greyhound. Their website for travel from Airport
Terminal to Trenton was not working at this time. They service more towns, and
might be a better choice for the return trip to the airport. Here's a link to
Ontario towns serviced by Greyhound Canada
