GL: Lake Okeechobee Open?

There are two locks closed at various times this summer as follows:

Moore Haven - 8 June - 3 September.

Franklin - 6 July - 26 August.

You can get updated info at the Corps of Engineers site (Navigation Notices) at the following site:

The dates are tentative and have already changed once since the original dates were published in March. So I would call the locks and ask.


The good news is that the Lake water level is increasing slowly. It's up over a foot since I went across at?the end of May.

Hey All,
 
Just returned from a wonderful 12 weeks in the Exumas.  We had planned  on 
going back around the Keys to get to the west coast of FL because we had  
heard that L.O. was closed for the summer for lock repair.  Is this  true?  We 
are currently anchored off Key Biscayne and would rather head  north up the 
ICW and go through L.O. if possible.
