Transitioned South from Long Island Sound into the East River, thru Hells
Gate and the Narrows during Memorial Day weekend. Nice view of the Statue of
Liberty as we went by!
Go with the tides and currents, and you will have an enjoyable ride. Have
someone else ready to take your pictures because the Captain will be busy!

I have found that all the reputed rough areas from the Chesapeake River to
Long Island
Sound can be enjoyably transitioned in this same manner.

Sit out the rough weather and time your crossings; get in a hurry and it may
be a very rough ride.

Stay on the outside from Cape May to Sandy Point .... we ran the inside and
got stuck three times, backing off to keep going. After we reached Utsch's
Marina, we were informed that that stretch of the ICW is not maintained and
almost impassable ... that's what we found out!

Look out for fog in the mornings, burning off around noon.
