I just finished running the Delaware and the C & D Canal. The trip was so
uneventful that my 1st mate and I alternated sleeping while the other drove.
Cape May was full of Fog every morning, finally a night storm came thru and
the next morning it was calm and clear as a bell, so off we went fully
expecting to hit the reputed rough water areas.

It never happened! We got an excellent ride running with the tide and
current. Tuned for 8-9 knots, we reached 12-15 knots, at times...

Same with the C & D Canal. We did experience a blown water hose clamp
Saturday, but readily repaired it and were off the next morning!

We finished up in Baltimore, where we put Day Dreams in storage and jumped
on a plane for home in Dallas. So did my partner/1st Mate who lives in
Kentucky, Mark, whom I really learned to appreciate!

We had a number of delays between Rhode Island and Cape May. The boat was a
new purchase that had been sitting for 2 1/2 years and many things needed to
be fixed or replaced, including the generator. So this amounted to a
complete shakedown cruise.
The port engine required a new carberator for full operation, otherwise it
would only do 2100 rpm wide open. After that she did over 20 knots! The
battery charger had to be replaced, a dingy and outboard motor added, new
canvas and Issenglass, new batteries, and a whole list of minor odds sand
ends.

Day Dreams is doing the ICW in segments. This was the end of segment one.
I'm looking forward to the next segment. The final destination is Seabrook,
TX.

This trip was great!!!
