GL: Rideau canal

The "Black Pearl," Joan and Fred Flinn, are through Rice Lake and descending down river to Kingston. Rather then crossing Lake Ontario, we are thinking of going up the Rideau canal and then down the Ottawa river to Montreal. Then out the St Larwrence to the entrance of the canals that will take us to Lake Champlain. Are there any major pitfalls we should know about?? Georgys sent me an email with his web site on this trip, but I misplaced it. Any advice will be appreciated. Fred Flinn on the Black Pearl 27" Regal
