Ken,
I currently have the original water heater in my Carver, but when it starts
to
go I intend to replace it with the waterless electric water heater.
This heater is not waterless, it only holds a very little water and heats it
as it
goes. That is to give you immediate heated water when you turn on the hot
water knob. It is so hot that there is no way you can un it without turning
on
some cold water to cool it and is an "on demand" heater so that there is no
amp draw except when using the hot water.
There are a number of ways to configure this heater. You can simply replace
it in the same spot as your old water heater, provided you get a large
enough
one to handle the shower and all sinks aboard; or you can connect small ones
under each sink and run your hot water connection to the shower(s).
A little more expensive than regular water heaters, they are well worth the
investment!! This was proven to me time and time again when we lived in
Germany because that is all they use over there. Prices are extremely high
in Europe and they have to find every way they can to cut costs on housing.
(They even have special heaters that are located in the center of the living
room area which
is connected to hot water copper tubing running through the flooring to heat
the rooms; very
interesting design allowing them to use wood ovens for heating).
I also intend to convert my house over to these water heaters as soon as the
current one goes out or maybe even sooner because of the gas and electric
bills.
However, I will use a gas "On Demand" heater since I already have gas run to
the
house.
