Henry, all good anchorage advise has been given. That said, pay very close
attention to conditions at the mouth of the Potomac River where it enters
the Chesapeake Bay. Easterly/Westerly winds of any magnitude opposing tides
compounded by any ocean swells from the Atlantic will create a most foul and
memorable experience. Solomon's Island Mill creek area (just inside the
Patuxent River) is an excellent protected anchorage with many available
resources to await a weather window to cross the mouth of the Potomac river.
