I can't find where the article is but recently I read an article in one of th
major magazines on stern anchoring.
One key point was to keep the chain to a minimum (maybe 6 feet). Most boats
don't have a windlass on the stern. If you take the anchor out with a dingy,
you wind up with a heavy clumbsy mass of metal.
Chaffing should be less of a concern since the boat won't be swinging.
