GL: Canadian Poop - Someone told me...

Elaine and list,

Elaine, thanks for finally weighing in on this important topic.
Skipper Bob had a very easy to implement method of switching back and
forth to meet the laws and allow overboard discharge where
permitted. Perhaps on another post you will mention the book and
pertinent pages for those interested.

Your statement that "Canada does not want your poop" is a bit
limiting, neither does anyone else, particularly in most of the
waters of the Great Loop where such discharge is also prohibited.

We can't believe that this topic comes up every year and that there
are so many of the Great Loop Cruise boaters on this List who think
that it is their right to be afforded the capability to dump their
raw sewage overboard where ever and whenever they wish if only to
save the cost of a bottle of cheap wine!!!

We did the entire Great Loop with only a 30 gallon holding tank and
had no problems finding pump out stations (a few were not working or
not working properly but we made out OK anyway) -- we simply pumped
out every time we fueled up, but then again we have gasoline
engines. We also spent many more nights in marinas in order to see
the land sights versus most who anchor out almost all of the time.

We can't believe that there are so many who will not take their boats
into Canada or all the other "No Discharge" areas of the Great Loop
because of these restrictions and will miss some of the most
beautiful and pristine boating areas of North America.
