GL: Attaching stair carpet

On new boats they cut the carpet to fit each step, have the edges bound, and add a snap in each corner. This would still mean making 4 holes per step, but it allows you to remove or even replace the carpet at anytime without ant further modification.

Any recommendations for attaching stair carpeting without damaging the
teak? Our carpet store does not think 2 sided tape will hold. We are
planing to use one piece of carpet per step, not continuous as that
would require tacks.
