We did the Loop last year in our 44+5 CPMY 4'-7" draft. I would be lying if
I said that we didn't experience skinny water, but I can say that we never
went hard aground. Georgia & South Carolina were problem areas, but if you
play the tides correctly you shouldn't have any problems. BTW when you get
on the big water you will be glad you have that deep draft vessel; very safe
& stable.
Our air draft is 21-0', which includes the anchor light. We were lucky and
didn't have to take down the light to get under the bridge south of Chicago;
the Illinois River was low when we went thru.
We wanted to take the ICW from Marathon, FL to Miami, but we are too deep so
we took the Hawk Channel instead; not a bad cruise.
