I apologize to those loopers who are frantic by now about the Illinois
closure.
We did that stretch each way and I appreciate the spot you are in.

However, could not resist the subject title.

The only electronic problem on this georgous waterway is the paucity of
internet access spots. Letitia will have spent about 4 weeks going from
Kingston to Smith's Falls (they have power and wifi there) to Merrickville
to Smith's Falls to Poonamalie Lock to Smiths Falls to .... eventually
Kingston.

The Rideau is different from the Trent-Severn altho I am having trouble
decsribing exactually how. I think it has to do with almost wilderness feel
of large parts of it. Towns are not as prevalent. The locks are somewhat
smaller. I don't like the step locks but they are part of it. As usual, the
Parks Canada people at the locks are great and the lock environs are just
great. There is enough to see that we wouldn't miss the more traditional
routes through the Rideau.

I suspect we will get up here again.
