You have to us a lot of Acetone and only work small areas. Its essential
to keep it wet with the acetone.
Once in a while use a rag wet with acetone to wipe it.

I have the same problem. Acetone took the heavy blue paint off but
smeared a faint smudge of blue on the cream gelcote.

I'd love to try Easyoff if someone can confirm that. Sally

  Hello All,

I need to remove the old name from the boat to make room for the new
  name.
Black paint on white fiberglass gelcote. It seems to me that I read
  some
where that using Easy Off oven cleaner works best, but it needs to be
unscented variety. Do I have the facts straight, and is there
  anything
special I should know about, about doing this project. Any & all
  suggestions
  will be greatly appreciated.
