Joshua Slocum, being around sixty in 1895, was the first person to
circumnavigate the world on a 46K mile trip. He stated that " I feel
healthier, happier and younger".
Although the Loop presents a much more gentile adventure it could
reinvigorate a sense of health and happiness. My wife will be happier
knowing that there is a Tow Boat for emergencies, an interesting restaurant
in addition to our galley and a phone and Internet for keeping in touch with
the family. I wonder what Slocum would think about AIS as he allegedly was
struck by a steamer on a subsequent voyage to the Amazon?
I read the AGLCA Survey and became more motivated than ever digesting the
statistics. I have a great job, a kid in college and a few years to go but
I hear Jerry loud and clear "should have started sooner"!
Bob DeGroot said and I like:
Plus when you get right down to it, I can't think of a better way to go than
a having a Pina Colada at a tiki bar where you just cruised on in from a
long day of hanging on the hook working on your tan.
