GL: CanPass

My wife and I will be doing the downeast loop this summer. Has anyone had
experience travelling with dogs and using the CanPass. I especially need to
know if we are wasting our time and money obtaining it. Will we always have to
present a vet certificate in person anyways?
Also, What is the duty on wine? Does it make sense to stock up at Cosco and
pay duty?
Appreciate anyone's experiences.
